Then found that their IDE has already forked one OpenOCD in background that has already grab the TCP port. GDB was connecting to the OpenOCD in background, not to the new one.\nI\u0027m ok with this patch.\n\nIt would be nice to have in the error message an info like \"TCP port already taken by process XXXX\" but, in general, it\u0027s not possible for a process to access the info of other processes. I was wondering about the same thing. \n\nI would prefer to treat it as fatal for two reasons:\n\n1) If any of the other two main OpenOCD\u0027s servers - telnet and tcl - fail to start, this is already considered fatal now.\n\n2) It is IMO more prudent to fail early than to:\n- let the process (GDB connection) fail at a later point, or\n- ask the user to detect the failure to start the GDB server by other means.","commit_id":"0afaa0b7b5b63ee3b51ee73d0a72a16e5f1927e5"}]}
