Really clean code!\n\nI think the flag `-ap-num-gateway` does not scale for multiple nesting. Do we need something different or do you have already a proposal?\n\nI prefer not merging the series as is to prevent changing several commands and their documentation to add `-ap-num-gateway` and then rework them again and deprecate the intermediate command syntax.\n\nI have just started reworking the adiv5 code to put in a single \"opaque\" struct the config parameters of an AP. Only few functions will handle the internals of the struct, while the rest of OpenOCD code will use it as a black box to get a handler to the AP.
