With option (2), someone might change a full board file in a way that unintentionally impacts the others (unlikely here, but possible).\n\nFrom a usability and end-user perspective, having one board file per board - even if they are very similar - is helpful, because it makes it obvious whether a given board is supported. This approach is also consistent with what we agreed on in the configuration file guidelines.\n\nAnother motivation is that I would like to automatically generate board/target/whatever documentation in the future and provide a list of supported boards. I recently noticed that Zephyr has a similar mechanism, see for example:\nhttps://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/boards/silabs/dev_kits/sltb004a/doc/index.html","commit_id":"89b2200efa56e0aaa6608f8bc633928e6adb8841"},{"author":{"_account_id":1000021,"name":"Antonio Borneo","email":"borneo.antonio@gmail.com","username":"borneoa"},"change_message_id":"ec39a94b0c3fa0aa3b1068654a3642d2ea335473","unresolved":true,"context_lines":[],"source_content_type":"","patch_set":2,"id":"48e47fae_50434f85","in_reply_to":"f221edea_2413a144","updated":"2026-03-08 10:24:10.000000000","message":"Ping!\nAdded Tarek and Ahmed.
